With the best forts location in Cartagena, the beautiful city has been divided into three regions, San Pedro, San Diego and the third one is Gethsemane. In 1811 Cartagena officially announced its independent but while curtaining the colonialism. On the silver and gold trade route, the city Cartagena was a rich port. Despite of Francis Drake’s hostile intention, hoarding treasures from pirates, artillery attacks on The Castillo de San Felipe, The Castillo Fuertes of San Fernando, and The Bocachica, Cartagena still massively fortified itself from all the odds came across in early century, and stood again, to join the race of colonialism. The San Pedro, The San Diego, and The Gethsemane, these three zones of the city, still hold the evidence of its past grievous history. In San Pedro, municipal and cathedral buildings are located. Wherein, San Diego is the middle class residential area. And the rest portion of city is known as Gethsemane.

After such an atrocious, lamentable and villainous experience, this city still ingrains to stand-up and move on. This is what the reason to be known as a desirable and unique place to come across. Cartagena is worthy in every tinny aspect that makes it a city, what it is today. Apart from heinous history, Cartagena’s beaches, lagoons, ancient gift of architecture, Brief Ocean and its culture vibrancy is also the centre of attraction.

Best things to do in Cartagena:

Islas Del Rosario: Covered by the Nature Park, Islas Del Rosario gives a marvellous view of still water, and is a best place for snorkelling and diving.
Cartagena Market: scrutinizing Cartagena Markets is the one thing that you should not forget. With loud local music, delicious food, full of flowered puffed courtyards, will exactly make you feel as your own hometown.
Palace of the Inquisition: thanks to ancient visibility of macabre and basic stuff of ancient art, that is why Cartagena’s museums always attract numerous people to visit this place.
Volcan de Lodo El Totumo: chivalric, pristine of volcano’s will drive you towards an unknown land of mud and volcanoes.
San Pedro Claver Cathedral: The first saint in Cartagena who affrayed for the slaves and poor people, San Pedro Claver is a tribute to him. And a must watch in your travel kit.
Fort of St. Philip: with an impressive design, Fort of St. Philip binds you with the ancient history of Cartagena.
